Meet Doug

Councilman Doug Singleterry has lived in North Plainfield for over 30 years where he resides with his wife and 10-month-old son. He is serving his fourth term on the Borough Council spearheading initiatives dealing with economic development and sustainability.
Doug has served as both Council President and Vice-President in recognition of his leadership abilities as a consensus builder. He has also served as president of the Somerset County Governing Officials Association and Chapter Chair of the former Tri-County Red Cross.
An attorney, Doug is a recipient of the Service to the Community Award from the New Jersey State Bar Young Lawyers Division. He is co-author of a book on commercial transaction law and a peer reviewed article on the international law of genocide. He has also written on a range of issues such as health care, criminal justice reform, and transportation policy. Following law school, Doug law clerked for a Superior Court Judge.
